Default Cross dominant eye

I noticed in several recent posts the number of people who shoot against their dominant eye as I do. I was wondering how you aim, instinctive, point of aim or what. It seems to not make any differance instinctive and was wondering about what everybody thought on this subject.

I'm cross dominant; left eye dominant, right handed. All shots are with my left eye closed. Up to 20yrds, I shoot instinctive.
20-30yrds, I shoot point of aim. +30yrds, I gap shoot.

Default RE: Cross dominant eye

I'm right eye dominant and shoot left handed. If you shoot with both eyes open and the bow canted a little and stare a hole in your target, the cross dominant issue is moot. But if you use a sight system of some sort--gap style using the point as a sight pin or look down the arrow--the cross dominant situation will give you fits unless you close your dominant eye. This, to me, is the very thing I left compound shooting to get away from--sight shooting, closing eyes, etc.
