New to Traditional
Hey everyone,
I'm new to traditional archery, but not new to the sport, I have been bow hunting for about 5 years now, have been 3D shooting for about 3 years, and have just bought my first recurve. I didn't want to spend much money but wanted a bow that I could have some fun with so I bought a Ben Pearson mach 1 off of ebay. It's #45, 52" AMO, I know it's old but that doesn't mean I can't have some fun with it. I'd like to know any info you guys could give me on what gear, arrows and anything elseI should consider, I presently use Carbon Excel 400 w/100 grain heads. I do know that I need to use feathers not vanes, I need to buy a string for this and I realize that I need a string that will stretch or I might hurt the bow??? what string would be good??
any info you could give me would be great.
thanks in advance

RE: New to Traditional
Email Chad on here. He goes by LBR. He set me up with a really old recurve I setup. And also makes great flemish twist dacron strings. Just go to www.recurves.com His email is on there. You need to take a tape measure and measure the length of the recurve. I use a string to measure from nock to nock. And then measure the string. YOu probably want a string 3-4" less than that measurement. Depending on the bow, I would set the brace hieght to 7.5". I set the recurve I got to 8", to make it quiet, and the wife shoots that one and doesnt like string slap.
