string material
got a question trad guys and gals. i've got a request to make a string for a re-curve. the fellow says 452x should be fine, but i know nothing about it and wouldn't think that would be ok. any advice would be appreciated, as in for certain types of recurves 452x is ok, or its never ok, and what would be a good material to use. any help would be greatly appreciated, john

RE: string material
You're proably going to have to check with the bowyer or paperwork from the bow to make sure. I wouldn't assume the bowcan handle it without knowing. If you can't tell, better go with the Dacron. Most of the older bows can only use dacron, but many the newer bows can handle DF-97 and 450+. From what I have seen though even if the bow can handle the 450+, many bowyers suggest DF-97 (what I prefer also).

RE: string material
452X is the same material as 450+, just a smaller diameter. It will require more strands for the same size string, and I'd suggest padding out the loops to probably at least 18 strands. Bob has the right idea--check with the bowyer or dealer to find out if the bow will handle high-performance materials. If it's Fast Flight compatable, 452X should be fine.
