I'm replacing my string and cables on my Merlin Max 2000. What are the pros & cons of 450 plus, 452 and 8125? Or would D-75 or Ultra cam be a better choise? How many strands for the most speed without excessive viberation and noise? My set-up is: Rapid cam, 27.5 amo draw @ 63#. Thanks in advance. Jerry

I would recommend using Ultracam or 452X for your cables as they are great materials for not creeping and are extremely durable. I have not used 452x yet and thus prefer the Ultracm to 450+ and 452 because it has less of a tendancy to fuzz.

If you want speed, I would go with either d75thin or 8125 for the string or maybe the new TS1 material which is supposed to be very fast and supposedly they have kept the creep minimal. D75Thin and 8125 are basically the same and the TS1 is a new version of fastflight that is made differently so as not to creep.

Thanks Rob. I did a search and I'm leaning towards the 8125. I read that 450/452 has a Vectran blend and is more brittle and is more likly to have more vibration and los of speed. I have 8125 on my Max 3000 (not Winners Choice)and it took longer then I thought to settle in but I think it's about done. Most likly I'll use Winners Choice because I've had good results with there servings. Now they have X-coat on there end servings. Jerry

I have been using the new ultra cam material and getting real good results with it.

Brownell TS1 will give you a little more speed and no stretch.

I have D-75 thin on mine now. Just put it on this weekend so I haven't had a chance to shoot it. I think its supposed to be one of the faster strings made. Don't know about durability though.
