Shooting with a friend today,"He shoots an OutBack" and my extreme vft was making a loud thump? pro shop said it was normal. My question is ,with the string so close to my ear is this the reasion i'm hearing the noise,or should my extreme be as quit as an OutBack?

The Outback is quieter than the VFT. It's also allot slower. With the extra speed will come some extra noise. Not knowing what you have on your VFT to silence it, I'll recommend Limb Savers (with Vibrablocks slid to the limb pockets), cat whiskers, and a Vibracheck Isolator stabilizer. You should also check your accessories to be sure they aren't making noise.

and check those little screws that hold your drawlength module in place, they need to be lock-tghted with the blue stuff, but that usually provides a rubber band like twang. my neighbor has one and we've got it really, really quiet. you don't have one of those tubes going from your peep to the cable/string do you?

Ranger before you go changing anything or making adjustments check you whole bow over and make sure everything is good and tight including your arrow rest. Lube it up and make sure nothing has moved. Also you didn't say if you shoot with your quiver on which can make a big difference. Plus your bow will sound louder to you when you shoot it so have someone else shoot it a couple of times while you listen. I hope this helps. Good Luck Mike

I have a 03 patriot and it is very quiet.something you might want to do is slid your rubber blocks that are on the limbs as close as you can to the top and bottom wheels.I left the original silencers on the cable, and put limbsaver string leechs on the string.this should solve your problem, and like everyone else said make sure nothing is loose on your extreme.
