I put my release on when I go in, and it doesn't come off until I come out. I always draw my bow before I settle in my stand so the velcro can seat itself, and I have never had a problem with it costing me a shot. Bhunter32.

I hate velcro straps. Used one for a couple of seasons, it tended to stick to everything including mesh gloves, face mask, fabric on my armrests just to name a few. I bought a Scott Mongoose on Ebay for $35 bucks new, it had a velcro strap too. First thing i did was buy a buckle strap for it. Love it. I have a brand new velcro strap now for a scott release never used, maybe I should go visit the classified section...

ASH2042 if you either draw your bow after you put on your release or just pull on the release that will take care of any crackling sound from the velcro. IMO the velcro is the best and mast adjustable strap.

You may be right konk but there is still the possibility it may make noise (crackling), especially if you have it on all day. There is still the fact that I cannot put it on exactly the same as I can with my buckle strap. I guess this is why they make two different styles.

stick with the release, and shoot more acurately. just put it on at the truck, or find one with a buckle that is comfy, and adjusted correctly.
if it has a leather strap, spray it down once in a while to get the stinky off of it.
just my two cents!
merry christmas to everyone here, even the finger shootoers who are going to call FOUL!

I wouldn,t chance the felcro strap. They do make noise when you pull them back if it is still and quiet out. Can you imagine loosing the buck of a life time because of your release?

I was putting the finishing touches on getting ready last night in about a foot and a half of snow; I'd just got my stand to hunting height and had strapped my velcro release on when I looked to my right and saw two deer coming in to me and they were already only fifty yards away.
I figure in the muffled quiet of the snow that if I can get away with using the velcro, it's gonna be ok most all other times too.

Well there are two kinds... Cheap ones with thin straps and little velcro... Then there are good ones like Xcalipers with full length velcro and once down, no noise... I been using an Xcaliper for 14 years with 0 noise problems or any problems for that matter...
