How are you supposed to take brass nocks off without them fancy pliers? I tried a screwdriver, and all I done was stabbed my hand about 6 times.

You can try a pair of small needle nose pliers and be very very careful.

Best thing is one of them fancy specific to the task at hand pliers...

fancy pliers are the best way

I use to do this: take a butter knife and use the not "sharp" side and work it into the opening in the brass nock and twist it. This will take several tries, once it starts moving apart it gets easier. Get it open enough to take it off.

You could also grab both sides of the opening using two sets of needle nose pliers and try to pull them apart.

Worked for me, until I got those fancy pliers that is, now it takes me about 2 seconds to get a nock off the string. [8D]

Another way is to take a small file and file a notch into the backside of the nock. When you are almost through, a pair of needle nose pliers will be able to easily twist the nock open and off.

BE CAREFUL YOU DON'T FINE INTO YOUR SERVING OR WORSE YET YOUR STRING.

BTW: The facny pliers are the best way of doing it unless you like to stab yourself with the screwdriver

Real easy - just cut your string at the nock. It's easy to pull off without pliers then[:@]

Another easy way is with two pair of pliers and a third hand to hold the bow. Just grab it with the pliers and carefully twist in opposite directions. Be sure that the metal doesn't contact the string or you will end up with my first suggestion.

So you want to save a couple bucks not buying "fancy pliers". Sounds like you'll end up sspending that much on bandaids.

Right tool for the right job works better.
