Default adding brass nocks for speed

I seem to have heard you can put brass on the string to increase speed.
Is this true? if so are there any negatives or catches

Thanks

Though I have never tried it, I have heard you can pick up a few FPS if they are placed PERFECTLY. You have to find the "sweet spot". If placed in the wrong spot, you may actually lose speed. They supposedly will do the same thing as the speed balls made by TRU. You really need to have access to a chonograph and bunch of extra time on your hands to make it worth it!

I have noticed on some bows that they have a few nocksets placed on the string and shrink wrapped in place. All of the Hoyt's I have owned have had this. I just replaced the strings and cables on my Xtec but didn't place any on it. Actually, Winners Choice recommends them on single cam bows. Personally, I feel that the speed gain is negligable.

There is not much gain in speed but i have read somewhere it makes your string roll-up a little less flexed. so the moment where the arrow is going from your string can be effected a little. Than again i personally go completly with muzzyman88, because i have not noticed any difference in shooting a string without them.
