Ok, so now I'm thoroughly confused. I won't go into the history of this, but I set up my Patriot's Infinity cam so that the forwardmost module screw edge is 5.5 mm (0.215" per the 2003 manual) from the limb as shown in the picture. Apparently, limb pockets, finish, and riser width aren't the only things that changed in 2004. I was informed that the new timing for a 2004 Patriot with 70# limbs is 0.305" or 7.747mm. My question is, given the photos I've attached, could someone please tell me how to measure this 0.305"? I was told forward, in the direction you shoot, BUT based on the photo this will put me much, much longer than 0.305". It would make sense to me to measure this straight down. To complicate things, the timing marks supposedly put on at the factory (in MARKER!? 700 bucks and I get marks with a Sharpie?) are not there - or I'm blind.
Thanks for any help in advance and here are the photos:

*Note: The ruler moved in the photo and the angle doesn't help.....the measurement is exactly 5.5mm

I don't see the mark on your bow, but it could be hard in the pic. They are generally on the outside of the limb, and towards the riser, on the cam. It is a black mark right of next to the limb. That is the best I can do for you. Call bowtech, they can always help also.

Though we can't read your ruler from the pic, it looks to me like you're measuring it right. Measurements are from the limb to the innermost edge of the module screw hole. I believe that the reason BowTech puts the marks on their cams with a marker is a patent issue from Darton or Martin?? When I get my new bows, I check that the cams are set up to factory specs and timed (if it's a Dually) and then check the brace and ATA. If it's all correct, I'll scribe my own permanet marks on the cams with the back side of a knife point for future reference.

Thank you guys..........I also had my measuring technique confirmed on another board. Now I've got to reset it to 7.7mm
, reserve the peep, and sight it in again.............should have never touched it.

I have to tell you Fred that your daily, ongoing saga with your bow is getting pretty entertaining to read...
. But, hey, that is how you get to know your equipment. I think if alot of folks spent as much time as you are in terms of tuning/tinkering then we would have many more accurate and knowledgable archers out there.

I'm going to start charging admission to read my posts........
You are witnessing the anal retentive compulsive German side of me. I want to be able to totally blame myself for misses, and not the equipment. This technical firestorm will end for the year after I temporarily burn myself out, or when fishing season starts - whichever comes first! There are always sequels within a year though![8D]

Lemme tell you about bow presses that explode when you're adjusting your peep!
Last night, in an effort to end this timing issue, I had the Patriot sitting on my lap pressed in an older bow press called "The Lapper". This thing uses "cam action" to bring the limbs together with a 1/8" steel cable in between. I'm just getting ready to let it down when, WHAM! I sat there stunned and numb for a second until I realized I still had all my teeth and that I was bleeding profusely from my middle finger. This thing broke in the middle of the cable and left the bow strung together only by the single bow cable.
I gathered my senses, assured my two kids that I was OK, bandaged my hand, then went on a hunt for another bow press to let the tension off of this next catastrophe waiting to happen. Fortunately, our dependable moderator
, PABowhntr, lives right up the street from me and kindly agreed to press the bow for me. We got the cable off until the pro shop can assess things later this afternoon and restring it for me.
If you guys are using an older style bow press for these new fangled bows, I recommend you pitch it ASAP. I'm lucky to still have my finger this morning.
Thanks again Frank for the impromptu help you provided. I slept well last night despite my right arm falling asleep.[&:]
