It doesn't really seem like there is a heck of a lot of difference between the PAT and the Matthews Legacy. Maybe the actual weight of the bow, but speed looks pretty much identical.
Hmmm..I wouldn't say that at least based on the four Legacy's I owned (long story..don't ask ). My 71 pound Legacy at 29 & 1/8" AMO (28.5" cam) would shoot a 361 grain arrow @ 287 FPS, and that is without string leeches on the string. Apples to apples, the IBO speed diff is roughly 10-12 FPS in favor of the Patriot. The Legacy does have a 1/4" more brace height.

This is odd...I've talked to two different reliable sources that shoot a 410gr arrow at around 280fps +/- out of the Legacy.

I know that the advertised Bowtech speeds are roughly 10fps faster, but why does it seem that when you shoot a similar arrow through a BT and a Mathews they're basically the same? Could it be that BT is fudging? Something sounds fishy to me

Man, I'm still confused.

Well what are the draw lengths? Did you measure them?

I can see an LX doing 280 w/ a 410 grain arrow at 29" or more draw, but not a Legacy. I had 4 different Legacy models (two 29" cams & two 28.5" cams) and the fastest one was my left hand 29" (measured 29 5/8" AMO) and it shot 292 FPS at 5 grains/70 pounds (loop & peep).

The LX on the other hand will do those numbers all day long.

I use the same chrono for all my testing.

It doesn't to me, at least not in any of the side by side comparisons that I have done.

Well someone is fudging, but JeffB is the only one I see here posting the stats of both, of which he has owned both

I have to admit, I have not owned any of the bows shooting the numbers I've posted here nor have I measured the draw length. I do know that both bows were supposed to be 70#/29"ers though. I have a hard time believing that the two people I talked to are F.O.S. but I have been fooled before.

I just wish that I had a dealer near me that sold both BT and Mathews so I could shoot them side by side with the same arrow and decide which is better. I have shot both, but it was an hour drive between the two shops.

Con. we were able to shoot and we were getting 290fps w/ a 406 grain arrow at 29" and at 70# and I also shot the liberty and Pat again and my 3d arrows were in fact 8 to 10 fps diff w/ the liberty and pat,the pat was in fact faster so I ordered one tonite. And I decided to keep the BLK since they disc. the TB model. I'll just use the BLK for 3d's.

Thanks for the info....although it really doesn't matter much anymore because my wife brought home a new Legacy for me last night. I think she got tired of me debating over the two and since I only have a Matthews dealer here local, that's what I got. I would have been happy with either bow to be honest. I'll try to get it shot through a chrono when I get it set up and post some numbers.

Thanks again to everyone for the information, and keep it coming. Maybe someone else can find this thread useful.
