After nothing but trouble with the Mq1, I am considering buying a new bow. Is it possible that I got a lemon replacing 4 cables, 1 cam and loosing all confidence in the Mathews Mq1 that I own in a 2 yr period. Is it crazy for me to even think about buying another Mathews possibly the LX or should I switch brands. Will I have the same problems with another Mathews or did I get a lemon? thanks for all......Mitch

Sure sounds like a lemon. I' ve never heard or read anyone reporting that many problems with a Mathews...

mitch, Send it back to mathews. If your shop won' t then do it yourself. Call them and get a Warrenty Return Authorization Number (RA). That will help you track the bow. I met one of the techs at my local bow shop (we are only 2 hrs from Mathews headquarters). He said if I ever had a problem that I could not figure out just send a detailed letter to them with the problem, solutions tried, and they would make sure that it operated at original spec. They do have a lifetime warrenty and I would make sure that you at least try it.

On purchasing a new Mathews, I just did and would reccomend it to anyone.

I did send it in to the factory and thats when the cam was replaced. I have talked through email to Mathews techs about the chronic cable/serving wear and cannot get a solid answer that it is excessive wear, nor is it normal wear. All I hear is " All solo cams will have some serving wear" . very non specific answers imo. I went to the extent of buying a winners choice and still the normal pattern of serving wear after very few shots.

Something does not sound right. With the Winners choice you should not get serving sear like that. I know you said that they replaced the cam but have you checked it for burrs. Maybe take some fine emery cloth and lightly buff the cable track.

I would say switch. Not that I have anything against mathews. But when you' ve had the troubles you' ve had with lame answers to your questions, It' s time to givew someone else a try.
Maybe a smaller company that has time to work with you on the phone and e-mail.
Like Diamond, Pearson or parker.
For instance, last year when I was trying to find a Diamond dealer in my area I called and talked to the " OWNER" of Diamond archery- he' s who answered the phone[]!! That' s customer service.

Diamond is top notch...

I' ve not heard many complain about the mq1 or q2 for that matter as far as quality is concerned , but allmost all that own mathews complain about cabel serving seperation on the hard corner of the cam . Both of the bows I mentioned I beleive are better designed than the curent legacy/LX , but thats a matter of oppinion . Its kind of a bad time of year to be changing bows but if you are totaly tired of messing with this one I' m sure you can get some money out of it , as they are in demand . When checking out new bows check some of the newer twin cam and hybred bows , they have come a long way and shoot real nice . Darton owners genraly dont bitch but they have the same seperation problems . Martins bows with fury cams shoot real nice , and dont have as much of a problem with the seperation thing as its spred out between 2 cabels instead of one .
