I couldn't justify spending $100+ for a silly paper range so i decided to create my own using some left over 2x4's. Took about 2 hrs. It looked sorta crappy but works. Didn't care whether or not it was good looking...
Bought the foam block from fleet farm and can take 60#. I was shooting from like 15 yds. Couldn't paper tune any better than this.. I think it's good enough for now.

I've made targets and "made-do" for many years. I actually posted a way I made a target last year and I certainly agree that sometimes the home made ones are better and definatly more cost effective..

Personally, I think You may be using too thick of paper for paper tuning. Those paper targets are made of thick card, unless your using some I don't know about. I prefer news paper as it is thin and will tear easily, but that thicker stuff may not be giving you the truth. Just something to think about.
