I am a little confused about using mech broadheads in regards to arrow speed. I' ve been hearing some numbers for fixed blade vs mech, but I am wondering about KE. I am under the impression that you should have no less than 55lbs of energy behind a mech head. Is this accurate?
I dont know my arrow speed, but I am guessing that I am around 250 fps. This should put me around 55-60lbs. Would this be good for say a Shockwave or a Snyper? (currently have the first, planning to go with the second this year)
Thanks.

Thats probably enough energy. Ive always been leary of mechanicals, just one of those things. I like my muzzys. But, as long as your getting the proper amount of KE and taking ethical shots(as you should with all broadheads), that will definatly punch through the boiler room.

Think you realy could shot any combation of broadhead. Mechanicals get there bad penatration rap from hit bone and opening to soon. take only the best shots...maybe bet one or two into a bale see how they perform. i personly have no exp. with mech. head and preferr a thunderhead or the like.
Thanks
