Default BowTech Mighty Mite

Well guys,

I shot the Mighty Mite tonight. It had a slight more kick than the RazorTec, but, the RazorTec I shot had Limbs Savers, String Leeches, and a stabilizer. The Might Mite just had an arrow rest, no dampeners. Like I said, it had some handshock, not even really a kick, just a little shock. It could easily be solved with a stabilizer, limb savers, and some cat whiskers. Also, I chronoed the bow with my hunting arrow. The bow was set at my draw length 30", but, the draw weight was only 58 pounds (I shoot 65), and, the bow shoot 289 f.s.s. It would probablly shoot in the mid 290 f.p.s. range with my 65 pound draw weight. Also, the guy at the pro-shop welcomed me to bring my 2002 Hoyt MT Sport to shoot beside it (how many guys would allow you to bring your current bow for comparison?) Well, the draw on the Mighty Mite was smoother, the bow was alot more comfortable and felt perfect for me. I LOVED it. I also shot two different 2003 Patriots. One was set at 29" draw and 58 pound draw weight, and I chronoed it at 271 f.p.s., which, the guy at the proshop (this was his personal bow) laughed, he had chronoed it earlier and was getting 284 f.p.s., but, he lowered the weight and draw length. The other Patriot I shot was 65 pound draw weight and 30" draw length. I used my hunting arrow and chronoed it at 286 f.p.s. I'll tell you one thing, the guy at Full Draw archery who told me the Patriot would "literally jump out of your hand" was smoking something he shouldn't have been. The bow had absolutely NO jump. It was probablly the least amount of recoil and noise I have ever heard on a bow, but, it just wasn't my style of bow.

The Mighty Mite fits me perfectly. The bow isn't as smooth at the RazorTec, and the grip wasn't as comfy as the RazorTec, but, the overall feel of the bow was much better for me. The Mighty Mite seemed to be perfectly balanced, it just wanted to sit level in my hand, and the weight doesnt seem to be all in the riser like I felt with the RazorTec. With the RazorTec, it seemed like the limbs weighed nothing and all of the weight of the bow was in the riser, which caused it to feel less balanced.

But, I shot the Mighty Mite a few dozen times and decided that its definetly exactly what I am looking for. I am going to put a Simms Grip on it so it will be more comfortable, and, like I said, the draw is smooth, not as smooth as the Hoyts new Cam and a Half system, but, the next smoothest bow there is. So, Friday and going to put $480.00 down on it. Right now the price tag is 544.99, which is already on sale ($40.00 off) but, the guy at the pro-shop said he would take some more of the price off for me. Not only that, but, he said that he will take all my accessories off my bow now, put them on the Mighty Mite, help me tune it (paper tune, then group tune). He also said that he is gonna help me with my form a little bit. Talk about a great guy.

Well, my best friend took his Browning Tornado in to compare it to the Patriot and, he was amazed. Okay, keep this in mind, my Hoyt MT Sport has a I.B.O. rating of something in the mid 270 f.p.s. range, his Browning Tornado has a I.B.O. rating of 298 f.p.s. He is pulling 65 pounds from a 29 inch draw length. Same weight, just one inch shorter draw length. His bow had one cat whisker, a peep, and one nock on it. My bow has a PAIR of Simms String Leeches, a Peep Sight, and two nocks. Well, my bow, like I said, chronoed at 244 f.p.s., his chronoed at 239 f.p.s. He about lost it, he couldn't believe it was shooting so slow. We were using the same arrow. My bow was shooting 30 f.p.s. slower than the I.B.O. rating, his was shoot 59 F.P.S. SLOWER than the I.B.O. rating. Well, the guy at the shop couldn't believe it. He checked over my friends bow, and found that the tiller on the limbs was messed up (he had his string replaced last year and he believes thats how it got messed up, which would also be the reason he couldnt paper tune correctly), well, the tiller was 1/4" less on the top than on the bottom. Well, the guy at this dealer told my friend to bring it down when he had some time and he would tune it up, fix all the little bugs, and help him get it paper tuned then group tuned. Talk about service, my friend bought his bow from Cabelas, and this guy is offering to do work on it.

Well, anyways, I have decided on the Mighty Mite. I shot a bunch of bows and I am telling you, its a tough decision between the RazorTec and the Mighty Mite, but, with the RazorTec, I am sacrificing speed, overall feel, and just better performance for a smoother draw and more comfortable grip. It just doesn't seem to be worth it.

Like I said, Friday I am putting 480.00 down on the Mighty Mite and I will pay it off next Friday, and get it all set up. The guy at the pro shop (John Sbardella) told me to set the bow up at a one pin configuration and I should sight it in for 22 yards. He said that will give me a good shooting range from 10-35 yards. He said with the speed I will get out of the bow, it would be pointless to have more than one pin. I might set two pins, a 22 yard pin and a 45 yard pin (for practice and enjoyment ONLY).

Well guys, thanks for all the tips and help, especially you Frank. Thanks a bunch. It was all taken into consideration, and, I am sure that I have made the right decision.

So guys, where do I sign up for the BowTech band wagon? <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Thats the only opinion you need in a bow.

Congrats on the MM and welcome to the &quot;Family&quot;

WHat happened to you and the Dyna Tec? What about the mighty mite was more appealing to you?

Glad to see you got what you wanted.

YOu know I never realized how important tuning was until I saw your friend's drop in speed. That would throw off your sights, your kinetic energy. Wow.<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

I still like the DynaTec, but, after shooting the RazorTec a little more, I liked it more. I orginally liked the DynaTec over the RazorTec because I liked its grip better, but, the RazorTecs grip grew on me more and more.

Yes, the tuning on my friends bow was an amazing thing to see. It threw his speed down soooo much it wasn't funny, but, the guy at the shop said it still wouldn't be shooting as fast as it should be shooting compared to its I.B.O. He said it could throw it off a couple of feet per second, but, he said it should be shooting about 25 f.p.s. faster than it is, and, fixing the tiller and tuning it will fix some of that, but not all of it.

The Mighty Mite just fit me better. It is a shorter axle to axle. It is light, actually, it feels much lighter than it actually weighs. It is a performance machine, that is still incredibly forgiving. It is all that I wanted in a bow.

I'll email directions on the &quot;secret handshake&quot;<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>You won't be disappointed...it's a sweet bow.

Isn't it nice to find a real &quot;PRO&quot; in a pro shop now and then? Anymore I go into a new place and act stupid(not that difficult<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>) and see how they treat me.
There's a Cabela's near here too and while I love all the Gift cards I get from there...there's only 2 guys out of 7-8 that I'll let touch my bow. The rest of them transferred from the shoe department or something.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Trushot,

Yes, it is very nice to talk to a actual Pro. The guy, John, went to PSE shooting school, he has been archery hunting for 37 years, and has been shooting tournaments for 30 years. He was telling me all these new ways to tune a bow that are better than paper tuning. He said that for hunting, you should paper tune your bow, then, group tune it. Group tuning will give you a better idea of what is happening. He told me about some other tuning method that is complicated, I can't remember the name, but, you have to put your bow in a vice, then more sight, rest, ect till its perfectly even. You keep doing this on every axis, and supposidly, it will give you a bow that has everything perfectly level.

What really shocked me is how he was one of the few guys that didn't look down on me for being young. I was truly impressed and can't wait to get to work on the Mighty Mite with him.

Okay guys, I decided to get on here and tell you exactly what my final set up will be. Here goes....

2003 BowTech Mighty Mite

Arrow Rest. N.A.P. QuickTune 3000 Micro

Stabilizer. Single Simms Modular Stabilizer with a 7.5&quot; Carbon Impact Fat Gel Stabilizer (with Simms Stabilizer Enhancer Attached)

Quiver. Kwikee Combo Kwiver

Peep Sight. Dusk Vision Peep Sight

Wrist Sling. Buckwing Braided Rope Wrist Sling

Sight. Toxonics Hybrid-III Camo Sight

Release. Tru-Fire Hurricane

Arrows. 31&quot; Beman ICS Hunter 500 arrows (total weight 229.4 grains)

Broadheads. Rocky Mountain Snyper 100 grains (added to arrow gives a total arrow/broadedhead weight of 329.4 grains)

Dampeners. Simms New String Leech's, Simms Stealth Series Limb Savers, Simms Virgin Teflon Cable Slide, Simms Cable Guard Dampeners, Simms Mini Accessory Limb Savers, Simms Insulator Wrap, Simms Quiver Insert

Also, I will be using a rope for my release, no more knocking directly to the string for me.

Okay, Now, shooting these arrows on the fully set up bow, I will expect speeds around 285-295 f.p.s. Here is what the KE of my set-up will be

285 f.p.s.- 59 ft-lbs of KE
290 f.p.s.- 61 ft-lbs of KE
295 f.p.s.- 64 ft-lbs of KE

Well, that is what my new set up is going to be. It should be excellent for what I want it for. HUNTING!!!! I can't wait to get the bow and start shooting, that is if this darn snow ever lets up.

O yeah, one last thing, with the bow (with tax), all the accessories (new ones I am putting on, plus price of ones I already bought and going to put on), arrows, broadheads, release, target, shipping on items I bought from Cabelas, ect..... The whole setup for everything I need to shoot....... its going to have cost me around 1160.00 in the end. That is for EVERYTHING possible. Alot of money, yes, but, worth the great times that I am going to have while using this bow.

Welcome to the BT owner. You will not be disappointed with the MM. I shoot the Tech29 and really like it. My friend shoot a MM. The only difference between these two bows is the limb, I believe. Enjoy shooting!

Hey Buck Magnet, I have a mighty mite and shot it at 62 lbs. at 27&quot; and a 500 at 26.5 in. is almost to weak. I had to go to 400's to get good flight. Them mighty mites shoot real hard and sometimes require a little stiffer arrow. Don
