Ext VFT & Pat Dually an Average Joes Opinion
I shot an Extreme VFT last night side by side with the Patriot Dually. This bow has no hand shock at all. The one I shot was bare bow and only had on the Bowtech hush kit and it was VERY quiet and shock free. At 64# with a 320gr arrow @ 29" draw it was shooting it through the chrony at 285-289 consistantly. It seemed to have a very smooth draw cycle and obviously a solid back wall with the drawstop for the adjustable let off. I've had a Patriot Dually on order since the first part of November but got the chance to shoot the one that had come in which is an inch less draw length than what I shoot. Pat Dually at 28" draw 61# and a 300gr arrow bare bow was again incredibly quiet and shock free which really amazed me since I shot anywhere from 296-298 consistantly through the chrony. The grips were very comfortable although I think I still like the grip on my SQ2 better. I personally like the way that the Mathews grip widens out after the throat, the Bowtech is slim but doesn't really change width it stays consistant. All in all I am very pleased with both bows and now have a decision about which to buy. I still like the extra 1" of brace height on the Dually. One thing I did notice on the Dually was that it was a little spongy at the back wall. Seems like the when you got to the wall you could tell, but if you gave it just a little more umph, it would come back another 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Other than that I really like it. I agree with others that have posted here that the Dually is not a bow you want with a little too long of draw length, if you creep lookout. I guess these are just an average joes opinions on the two new Bowtechs, by no means am I an expert.

I to was going to get the dc pat. But the shop only had exvft & sc pat. So i was waiting for the dc, and shoot all three. As i was reading different threads here and elsewhere, I was starting to hear about all the dc problems. So i went to go shoot the other two. Boy now that was a tough decision. I shot both bows for over an hour. I was worried about the lower BH on ex, but was not a prob. And i choose the patriot single only because of the sand pockets. I could tell the difference. The two bows are almost identical other than BH & 1/4 - 1/2 inch difference in a to a. IMO they should have added the sand on the exvft. But regardless they are both butt kickers LOL. Good luck on deciding on your next bow fishon......

I wonder if anyone still makes the cable stops for the two cam bows? I think I still have a pair laying around and might try those on my DC Pat when it gets here. If the wall is not hard enough I'll try the cable stops or maybe even a removable pin in the lower cam if there is room.

Don't worry wwag, the wall is very solid and well defined. I think some of the "mushy" feel being reported is people over-rotating the cams. You can easily feel the wall and hold against it. You won't need draw stops, just extra arrow stops.
I chrono'd mine today. 55#, 29", 368 gr = 288. 305 gr = 301. This with a loop and kisser added to the string, and limb savers added.
Phil.

Like I said, you could tell when you were at the wall but you can still pull past it. I'm just stating what I felt as just your average bowhunter. I know I don't have perfect form nor do I believe I am a good enough shooter to give a full blown report like the great ones that are given by guys on this site. I'm just giving my honest opinion as a regular guy. I still think it's a great bow and will own one when mine gets here. I think the most solid wall on a bow that I've drawn this year was on the Hoyt C.5 to be totally honest, but I shoot a low poundage when hunting(60) and like the added KE that the Dually Pat will give me.

Phil,
Based on your numbers, I will probably be around the 280 mark at 28.5" and we'll say 55# and a 385 grain arrow for hunting. For 3-D my number should be close to your 305 maybe closer to 300. I am also shooting with a loop and kisser. WoW 55 # and 301

MS.
Not trying to pick on you or anything but that mushyness could have been one cam slightly out of time IE one cam coming to the wall a fraction before the other.
I had my cams re timed last week end so the both hit at the same time and the wall is rock solid.

I agree about the springy feeling of the Dually. It also creeps forward on you if your not careful. The VFT definetely has a solid wall at full draw, is fast, quiet, and lightweight! I bought the VFT and have it set at 71 lbs with a 29" draw length. I'm shooting PSE Carbon Force 300 Dominators that weight 380 grains with the field tip. I shot this bow through the chrono and it measured between 292-295 consistently. I don't know about you, but to me, thats pretty fast! I'm sure I could get a couple of more fps if I wanted to play with it a bit, but I think it will suit me just fine!

Jerry, I was quite pleased with the chrono numbers today. I only shot the light arrow to check speed. I may get some of my own and shoot them, to see how they fly. Up until now I've shot the heavier PSE arrows.
mshane, hope you didn't get the impression I was picking on you. I understand what you're saying about the wall. It's not like the Infinity cam with the draw-stop. Ausie may be right regarding cam sync. But you can over rotate the cams by pulling hard against the wall. It's something you'll get a feel for, as you shoot the bow more. The beauty of dual cams is their forgiving nature when you creep a little. A single cam won't tolerate creep. BTW, I don't have perfect form either. If I did, I'd be shooting for a paycheck.
Russell, have you been slapped lately?

I must have one hot solo Pat because at 71 lbs, 29" draw and 365 grn arrows I was shooting 299 fps. The VFT is a great bow! The only thing that scared me away from it was the sub 7" brace. But for most guys it probably won't make much of a difference.
Good luck
