Need help with decisions
#1
I have decided on a bow(Mathews Drenalin) and have decided to go with a drop away rest instead of the biskit. But not real sure what rest I want. Also trying to decide on sights I like the vertical pins but is horizontal better. I have been out of the bow seen for 8 yrs until last year when i borrowed the old mans Onieda Aero-force and killed a awesome 8 point. So this year I plan on strictly Bow and smoke pole hunting just not much of challenge with a rifle anymore. So the sights and bow I shot last yr was 12 years old with the outdated or antique if i should say compared to the new stuff. You know the red pin sights and prong rests with mole skin.
last time I shoot a bow was when golden eagle came out with the evolution. And 80% let off was a luxury. Any suggestions would be much appreciated

I can't help with the rest because I haven't shot a dropaway since I tried a Barner, way back when. That was enough to put me off dropaways forever.
Sights though. You've got two schools of thought. One is they don't like having a vertical post running right up through the target. They want to see everthing above and below the pin, so they can more accurately judge their elevation. They prefer the horizontal pin setup.
The other school doesn't like the sight pin covering the target from the side. They like to see everything on both sides of the pin so they can easier see when they're centered left and right. So, this bunch prefers the vertical pin setup.
Both types come with all the bells and whistles, so there's no difference in that area. Just choose the type you like and don't worry about it.

I have a QAD Ultra Rest LD and love it. It a great shooter. Very accurate drop-away. The only thing I can suggest getting if not interested in the QAD is for a drop-away that has total containment capabilities so that your arrow will never fall off the rest wether you draw to fast and it pops out of the holder and off of your rest, or if your stalking and have to make those extra few yards with arrow on string. Just my 2 cents worth tho.

QAD, TrophyTaker and limbdriver seem to be the top picks with the NAP along there somewhere. A rest that has the adjustment built into it instead of having to loosen the mount bolt is easier to work with. Though the bolt type aren't taht terrible. I have the QAD Hunter and it shoots great.
As for sights. That's something you'll have to look at to decide. Sights with micro-adjustment are much easier to work with when making adjustments. There are sights where the whole housing moves (gang adjustment) plus the sight pins verticallyand then sights where you move the pins vertically and horizantally.

Everything is up to you. Go to your local archery shop and try everything out. Make a few days out of it and have some fun.
I back Trophy Taker and Impact Archery. I am very happy with both on my bow.
Good Luck!

I like the Muzzy zero effect. It has no strings to come lose and it seems Quiet.
Sight Cobra w/.02 pins(I just like small pins)
I would go out to a few shops and kick some tires and see what you like.
