Default trufire x-caliber glove release mod

I purchased an x-caliber glove a few years ago and would like to know if it's possible to take the release part off and install it on a hurricane bucklewrist strap?

I really do not feel like dropping $79 for a new release when the new one looks like mine with the buckle strap. It doesn't seem like it would be that difficult.

Has anyone else done something like this? Also, where can I find the straps?

I've seem them on their site. Actually finding the straps for sale is another issue. however, Scott makes a similiar buckle strap release and I just ordered one from Keystone Country Store for $15.00. Now I just have to figure out how to mod the connection between the release and strap. x-caliber has a band that extends around the glove strap. The buckle strap requires a d-ring connector. Any thoughts? I doubt that Scott or Truball will send me just a dring connector. Or even Tru-fire for that matter.

Thank you for the help.
