Don't hype up the Black Ice too much. That was #3 on my list of new bows before I started leaning towards the new Guardian. The last thing I want is to be swayed to go shoot one.

I just finished putting all my accessories on mine yesterday... Weighed it on my Coffey digital scale and it came in at 4.44 lbs., fully finished.
You could hike for miles with this baby and forget you had it with you!
I'll shoot it more once our temps climb out of the teens...

The wide range on the IBO speed could be for another reason. I remember when I was looking at Bowtech bows that they had two different "modules", one for speed and one for silencing(?) I believe. This supposedly made a significant difference in IBO speed. Could this be the same thing with the Diamond?

Nice article Ryan. I learned a little more about Bowtech. After shooting for Hoyt for so many years and finally "retiring" and bought my first Bowtech this past spring, my Allegiance is amazing. Again, thx Ryan, very nice. Nice touches too in the article.

Grizzly, no... as there are no "speed" and "smooth" mod options available with the Pinnacle cam. The variance just allows for slightly different nuances in production; some will come off the line faster or slower than others -- simply due to mass production. The range is considered what's acceptable before being let out the door.

Now, I have had some time to play with my Black Ice and I must say that I continue to be impressed with it. I have yet to chrono it but that is not my primary interest in the bow. For such a short bow with so much reflex in the riser I was curious as to the accuracy potential of this bow. I have only done limited shooting at this point and at fairly close ranges but I have been able to achieve excellent accuracy levels with little to no additional tuning beyond the initial setup. That speaks volumes to me about the bow's design and overall manufacturing tolerances.
I will reserve further comments until I really get some time with it. I will say this much though, this bow is most definitely going to see some time in our after Christmas bowhunting season.

I done some more playing with my Black Ice today and even crono'd it.
60lb 28" draw 410gr arrow 8 shots through the crono lowest speed 240.4 fps highest speed 240.8 very consistant, deadly quite and thumping the morrell range bag

Seeing it is my hunting bow I have only sighted in 2 pins 20 and 30 yards.
Will have to get some pics next time and post them.

In relation to noise level, I would agree that the bow is fairly quiet but I do get a little "thump" upon release. I believe it is string noise but it does not sound like the typical "twang". It is much more subdued. I am going to tinker with adjusting the squidees to different positions to see if this changes the noise level/tone.

If Grizzly was referring to Ryan's original speed range post then I believe it is as large as it is because of differences between Ryan's setup and the advertised specs for the IBO speed rating. I think that was a question I had earlier in this thread.
Again, for those wondering... it's just the acceptable range in which abow will be allowed out the door, while allowing for nuances of mass production. There are no "smooth" and "fast" mods with the Pinnacle cam on the Black Ice.
