I am wanting to know more about helical fletching and whether or not to go the helical way. What sort of flight do you get and also i'm a lefty so do i need left helical? Thanks for any advice you share.

The more helical degrees you put on the vane, the more aggresive the arrow will spin during flight. Think of it as the rifleing in rifle barrel. I use a R.Hand 6 degree helical on carbon shafts. Personally I like my set up. If I didn't, I'd change it, but everyone is differant, and like something differant. That's what's great about archery, no 2 people will have the same set up. As for performance, tonight I was shooting, and got a nice 4" group at 40 yards, one time that is, several other groups were out around 8 to 10 inches, but that's me, not the bow, I ain't used to shooting that far, I was just plinking. good luck.

Helical is great it makes your arrow spin in which make you more accurate. Although the more you put on it the more your arrow drags in the air and on long distance shots your arrow will drag the more helical you have on it. I shoot blazers in which don't have alot on helical but do spin great because of the steap grade of the shot vain. Some people don't shoot 30 yards and out so they put alot of helical on there arrow because they don't care about spead. Others like spead and shoot deer all the way out to 40 yards so they like a little less helical. That is my take on my experiences anyway. Like Mastevet commented its all personal preference. Just experiment and see what works for you. I don't know that it would matter which way your arrow spins if your right or left handed.

I've been told, and have read several articles, that it's best if your left handed, shoot LH Helical, the same as R. Handed, shoot R.Handed helical. hope this helps.

Mastevt, that is correct but only when your refering to traditional bows shooting off the shelf or any bow with a flipper or shelf type of rest where the fletch comes into contact with the rest or riser.

With a shoot through style rest or dropaway, it does not matter if your right or left handed shooting either right or left helical. The string moves forward the same on both bows, contacts the rest or not the same on left/right hand bows etc...

Right helical however is a good idea for both right and left hand shooters when shooting shoot throughs or dropaways only because it spins in the direction opposite of screw in points which keeps the tightened vs left helical could cause points to loosen...theoretically.

I had a pretty in depth discussion about this with a local guy here that really knows his stuff (won vegas pro class and multiple time NFAA national champ both indoors and out) and he tells me that helical does not stabilize the arrow faster and will not make the arrow spin to a point that is measurably faster. Helical seems to be harder to get vane clearance with on the rests I choose to use as well, so I prefer to go with an offset and even before I had this discussion I never saw a different whether it was with broadheads, FP's, etc.........

Rick James, I didn't want your thread to be misinterpreted. Helical and Offset alike will spin the arrow however they both do stabilize an arrow quicker and spin it sooner out of the bow compared to straight fletch and I believe was meant by this thread.

I prefer Offset myself as well.
