Broadhead Flight

I use 4" Feathers with a right helical fletch on both field tips and broadheads. I have never had problems before switching from field tips to the muzzy 3 blades. By spin testing them do you mean checking to see if the ends of the shafts are cut square and the insert is properly aligned in the shaft? If so I haven't tried that yet but I will.

I ran into the same problem a few years ago. I was shooting the Thunderhead 100's with C-xpress 300's. I was ALLL OVER with them. Never solved the misery.
I started shooting mechincals.... I have shot them for 6 years. I don't believe they are the answer, they shoot great but I deer & elk hunt with the same setup & they don't penetrate well enough for elk.
I bought the wasp Boss bullets, they shot pretty well. I didn't like there cutting size 7/8". I recently bought a pack of Montec G5's. They have really impressed me.....fly like darts. This will be my first yeat hunting with them, soI'll have to keep you posted.
Good luck J

I don't know exactly which step solved the problem. I refletched my arrows, spin tested my shafts and one didn't pass that test. I weighed all of the arrows again and shot both field points and broadheads through the paper tuner. I am now shooting 3" groups at 45 yards again. I made no change to the setup after paper tuning so I don't know why they group better now. The only other thing I can come up with is that is was just me on that day. I've had bad days shooting before but to have arrows 9-10" apart at 20 yards was a new experience. I shot for about an hour or so over the weekend and everything looked and felt great. Thanks for the suggestions.

Bamahunter - Explain what you mean by "all over the place". There should be some consistancy to where the bh's impact vs fp's.
It's a tune issue and should be easily resolved.
Don't fall into simply accepting poor fixed position bh flight. I will impare penetration and accuracy. Expandables are a poor solution to a tuning issue that can be remedied with time and patience. If you choose to use expandables that's fine, but don't settle for anything less than a properly tuned bow before making that decision.
