I feel each has it's place.
Feathers seem to be best for shooting in long bows and recurves.
vanes work best at higher speeds of compounds.
IMO

this is such a funny topic i just love it . remember a few weeks ago me and arther p got in a big to do over vanes and feathers. just search for "and now i have a question" you will get a good read. both sides of this debate are very valid .both have drawbacks and advantages. ultimately you must decide . my suggestion is get an arizona e-z fletch and buy some feathers and vanes some glue and a couple of arrows and test them for your self . we all will give you sage advice on what we prefer but you are not going to be hunting with our setups. so shoot a bunch of arrows and let me know what you decided. by the way i prefer vanes.

feathers have so much more forgiveness in them if thay just tap a twig thay will now trow the hole arrow off 10 feet
