I am wanting to try some different vanes on some of my arrows.Getting to exspensive buying different arrows from bow shop just to try the different styles.I am wanting to try some of the 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 quick spins and the 1 1/2 and 2 inch blazers. I shoot the allegiance at 68#,29 inch draw and would like to keep on the quest for the tightest group of arrows I can get.I am shooting hunter on the 3D course using the gold tip 5575 shaft with 3 feathers 4 inch,.there shooting fine but don,t like them at all after they been exsposed to rain.Been reading about the small vanes and they sound like a good try. What kind of fletching jig would you suggest ?For the small vanes would you use a right offset or a right helical?
Bowtech allegiance,29 in,68#,copper john 4 pin ,fuse 10 in stabalizer, ripcord rest, copper head release,100 grain points. Any suggestions would be helpfull,Thank you

Well for hunter class, you will have to use 4" feathers or vanes. I would HIGHLY recommend the new Vane Tec's. They are as easy as duravanes to apply (you can't even pull them off) and I have now been shooting them for a few weeks with no damaged fletchings. I have shot literally dozens of groups with all the arrow shafts touching and not a single damaged vane yet with these, I have never seen this with other vanes. They are also one of the cheapest out there and only weigh in at 7 grains a piece and they are a no brainer.
For a fletcher, I would suggest picking up a used Jo Jan off archerytalk.com or ebay. That's what I just got and it works great, only cost $60 with 4 strait clamps and a helical clamp, and I can do up to 6 arrows at a time if I buy the extra clamps for it.
I now have my pro 22 3D arrows fletched in all white with slightly offset strait fletching, and my XT 75/95 hunting arrows with white 7" wraps, 2x white vanes, and 1x flourescent orange vane in a hard right helical. It is awfully nice to be able to do all my own fletching..........

I just picked up a Bitzenberger with a right helical clamp because I wanted to use different vanes and helical. Very few stock fletched shafts come in anything but offset. After an hour of messing around trying to figure out how to set the jig up correctly I got the hang of it. After that it took me about 2 hours to fletch upa half dozen Gold Tip XT Hunters with 2" Blazers with right helical. I have yet to shoot them, but they look almost as good a factory fletched arrows and I have high hopes that they'll shoot as well as they look. Using the lighter vanes brought the FOC right to 10%, where it had been closer to 8% before, wich is about perfect if what I've read about FOC is correct. From now on I'm goingto savemoney and buybare shafts from my shop, have them cut there and I'll assemble the inserts and fletch them myself exactly the way I want them.

I am not shooting the 3D course for a IBO score, I;m shooting for the best and consistant shoots that I can get for the deer and elk hunting.I just sarted the 3D shooting this summer.Even though the IBO is very interisting,I am a hunter first. After I am satisfied with the way I am shooting the hunter stakes I will move back to the MBO stakes. That is why I am open to suggestions, that would make a hunting arrow fly it,s best. For now I don,t want to have to change from hunting arrow to 3 D arrow. Is that possible????

I too use the Bitzenburger jig with a right helical clamp. It took me awhile to set it up, but now that I look at it, it is very easy. All you have to do is move the jig until it sits about 1/4" to the right of the markings. I can do that in 5 seconds. It does take awhile to fletch a dozen arrows, but it does one heck of a job. I have heard of people having their Bitzenburgers last over 30 years. Plus the jig is all metal and very sturdy.

I'm a cheap O. I bought a greyling at Dick's sporting for $29. I think it works great. As for blazers I love them. I have shot diamonds and duravanes and nothing compares to blazer accaracy and duability.

Though I have not yet attempted to use either the Blazers or Quickspins with the Arizona EZ Fletch I have used countless other vanes in different sizes without a single hitch. I find it to be highly practical especially when time is an issue.
I also prefer a right offset to a right helical even with short vanes (under 4 inches) though either should be more than suitable.

With today's new glues, I can fletch an arrow in about 5 minutes and be on to the next one. My buddy has a Bitz and it is a very nice piece of equipment, but of course he paid a lot more for his than I did mine.

The Bitzenburger jig has been a good investment for me. I have both the right helix and straight clamps.
You need the straight clamps for the Quickspins. The instructions tell you to offset them about 1/16". This offset is difficult to get with the helical clamp.
