Default Sewing a bear hide

Ok since I got this hide today I realize I have some work to do to make it nice enough to hang up. Aparently its a pretty old hide (or it seems that way) The nose has a hole in it like it was shot there and the nose itself is torn some to. But the biggest problem is my mom ripped it getting it out of storage this year so she could send it to me.

She bought this hide at a yard sale of all things. I wanted to put the head form in it but doesn't look like I'll be able to.

I forgot to ask the question. Is there a technique to sewing tears or cuts. And is there a how to or some info online I can read before I start.

Thanks
