Repairing an old bear hide
I have an old bear hide that is around 20 years old and is in pretty rough shape. I had it hanging by it's nose on the wall for years and finally the nail ripped through. I folded it up and stuck it in a closet and it was there for years and I pulled it out the other day and where it had been folded the hide was starting to tear apart. One claw actually fell all the way off and I sewed it back on with just a needle and some brown thread, but there are several other tears and rips, and it is about to completely tear in half.
The hide isn't anything giant or anything, just a nice brown colored black bear about 4 1/2' long. Trying to sew each rip back together would be long tedious work and by then the brown thread would be alot more obvious than just sewing one paw back on. I've thought about just hot gluing it to a mexican style blanket and seeing if that would work, but I thought I would ask here and see if any of you had any advice. I don't really want to spend much time and money on it but would be willing to spend a few hours or a hundred bucks or so to get it to where I could hang it back on the wall again or something.
Thanks, Nathan
