Default grouse care

i want to get a grouse mounted this winter...if i kill one of any decint size...

but, i will be at my buddys camp for 4 or 5 days...before i can even think about getting it to the taxidermist...

how do i care for a grouse and make sure it will be OK and in proper shape when i get it to the taxidermist?? figuring on leaving the entrails in it and freezing it...but i dont know the best way to wrap it and freeze it..any way to not damage feathers etc...i will most likely walk straight back to camp with it in my hands so i dont mess up feathers in the game vest..

anyone have ruffed grouse mounts?? post some pics if youd like..still undecided on what kinda mount i want

thanx

Default RE: grouse care

Wrap it in a dry towel or slip it into some panty hose, then bag it in plastic and freeze it. Don't put it in the game bag, treat it as gently as possible.
