M.Magis is correct. I will say that Miller's is the ONLY way to prevent them that is proven since they took certain chemicals off the market. Just because you have been lucky and not had a problem, you can keep your fingers crossed and you may never have a problem. But it can happen to the best tanned mount without proper treatment. The problem is that they aren't attracted to the mount at first, usually it is maybe a birds nest or dog food, etc but eventually they will find the mount and they will ruin it. More taxidermists should become more educated on dermestids. If your client looses a once in a lifetime trophy to dermestids, guess who is going to get blamed..... the taxidermist. I find that educating them and offering Miller's services is the best insurance I ever didn't pay for.

Dermestids can and will eat any protein, hair or skin and once they are on one item they will spread through out your mounts. www.millertrophyroom.comis the company that I recommend to my customers for this service. It is nearly impossible to handle it yourself.
