Have any of you had rugs or full body mounts made out of your fox, coyote or other predators? I've been researching taxidermists do do a full body mount on a couple of my fox, and/or rug mounts. I've seen prices ranging from $150-$1000. Just curious what you guys have paid, and what quality of work you had done. I think I've found the taxidermist that I want to have my mounts done at, and he is in Ohio! Wish I could find somebody closer to home, but can't complain too much, I need to learn how to do this stuff myself!
Also, does anybody know of good taxidermy books or video's for small game mounts and rugs?

I haven't had a mount or anything so I can't help you with that. But I wish you good luck on it. But, I do have a website that may help with rugs and such. Maybe...http://cahe.nmsu.edu/pubs/_l/l-103.htmlI hope this works.

ABM,
Look up the NTA and your state affiliation. It will give you member names and give you a good start for finding a taxidermist in your area. Ask for references and then talk to people to find out the artist's reputation.
Look at quality before pricing. Sounds like you have some nice specimens.

Artic Bowman,
I had a gray fox full body mount done about a year ago. It is one of my most cheerished mounts. I had it done in a semi sneaking raised head form. I had snow (fake)
of course and cornstalks added. I payed 285 out the door. Do some shopping around and you will be surprised at the quality you can find if you look hard enough. Rugs are cool but tanned pelts do the same thing. Just don't case it. you can put the felt or material behind youself.

Hey ABM,
Almost forgot. The guy I used is in Northern Michigan. There are some real predator experts here in the North. Shipping is going to kill you though..
Blessings: Give me an email if you want to chat more [email protected]
