i shot a starling and he got it and brought it to me. it was minced meat when i got it but hey its a start. after he did that i went and got a frozen quail that i was going to have mounted from last year. i tossed it in the brush when he wasnt looking then walked with him down wind about 20 feet. he caught the scent and found and retieved the bird to hand everytime. needless to say i am excited

make you feel good ; don't it?

my new best friend is 13 1/2 weeks old now. I went to the woods and checked my hog traps the other day.there was several hogs there,he bayed them hogs like an old hand.made me very happy.

he has been finding buggers in the yard all the time;so I changed his name from socks to "Bugger". I was already calling him bugger anyway,so I change it.

That's good news for sure! And a great age to start getting a pup "birdy".

Here's a piece of advice though. From now on, don't let the pup have any birds that are any smaller than pigeons. Small birds (starlings, quail and the like) are VERY TASTY to a pup, and can lead to problems like eating them, munching them and crunching them. This can be a very difficult problem to try to correct in the future.
