RE: MicroChip
The breeder already had my pooch chipped when I picked him up, but I think between the price of the chip, the Vet fee and registering the chip (I used "Home Again") it comes out to somewhere around $45 or so, but I'm not sure.

RE: MicroChip
I watched as the breeder inserted the chip the day we picked up the dog (avoid any confusion since they don't have a reader). I don't know how much the breeder paid for the kits, but it only cost us $12.50 to have the chip and our info registered. If you are willing to give a shot yourself with a large bore needle you can probably save a bunch. Damn that needle was big.
The microchip has not paid for itself yet, I hope I never need it to.

also, my dog had no anesthesia, and she wagged her tail the whole time... i have seen dogs hurt a little by it, but only for a second... it's a hyopdermic needle, so its really sharp and goes in and out quickly... i would do it if they are under anyways, but it won't e too bad without anesthesia...

RE: MicroChip
When we microchipped our frst dog, the vet did it without anesthesia. That poor girl let out a screem like I never heard before. Since then, we always tell the vet to use a local anesthetic before the "Big One".
BTW, we always have our litters chipped before they go to their new owners, as part of the cost of the puppy.
