RE: ***URGENT VIRGINIA HUNTING DOG OWNERS***

ORIGINAL: Hokieman

The point I was making was, did the landowner of the land in question give other hunters prior to his lease permission to hunt with dogs. This question was asked to Rick so that I could better understand his situation and not yours. If someone was on your rented property stealing your tomatoes that falls into another section of the codes. That person would be trespassing and stealing your veggies. It's not the same as the RTR law totally different and being ignorant of the difference is not an excuse anymore when all you got to do is read up on it to better understand it. whats your problem you can't find the time from arguing and looking like an idoit long enough to look it up and read it.
You didn't have a point. And you don't have one now either. All you were doing to Rick was spewing a wad of crap in his direction to keep a fire burning under his backside. Don't try and play innocent, because its pretty clear what you are all about dude. A lot of the tension and drama on this forum can be directly attributed to your presence on it, which is ironic considering that there seems to be a pile of hunter/landowner/non-hunter tension anywhere that there are dog hunters. It seems as if tension follows you around like a shadow.

At any rate, the prior arrangement, unless written in contractual form, would be null and void. It seems that you understand his situation just fine, considering that this crap has been going on for almost a year now.

Here is another situation for you to understand: Hunting on any posted land without written permission from the landowner is illegal ($2500/12months). And according to the law, running dogs, in season or out of season is considered hunting, and requires a hunting license. So to be quite honest as I interpret that law, the "RTR" isn't a right at all... its just a clause that makes it OK to commit a Class 2. But of course I'm sure that you aren't busy "being an idoit [sic]" and bothered to read it. It can be found in the general info part of the game regs... right next to the part about hunting at night and hunting with dogs... but then it appears that there are at least a few folks who haven't read that part either.

My 'problem' is law breaking individuals and the scum bags who stick up for them. To be honest I don't really have a problem with the RTR rules. I'm born and raised in VA and I know how this state works and how things are here. If that makes me an idiot, then it obviously makes you an outlaw. Hope thats not the case, because for someone who is such an ardent fighter for the rights of dog hunters in this state to be a big part of the problem... well lets just say that would be awfully ironic... like the Humane Society and PETA killing cats.

I quoted you directly. Read the post. What you said is a complete pile of non-sense and now you are putting a spin on it. Whatever, I don't really give a rip if you meant it to be directed at something different. If you mean something to be directed so completely at just one person, then try sending them a PM. I don't get your inside joke or whatever it was you were trying to convey. I don't really care. All I did was call a spade a spade. If Rick didn't own the land and it was posted and he didn't have written permission, then he was in the wrong too. Shame on him... but somehow I strongly doubt thats the case.

If you have to break it down to insults, then it quite clearly shows that you and your cause (whatever that is) are struggling to keep the ship from sinking. Frankly, if the association that is supposed to be a leader and a voice for dog hunters in VA (and keep in mind I am pro dog hunting, and I seriously mean that too, no sarcasm or malice. 100% truth here) is full of people with attitudes like yours, then it is frankly no surprise to me that dog hunting is on the block to start with, and it will be even less of a surprise when it gets the chop completely, and its a shame too.

The attitudes of the hard-core give a damn dog hunters are the root of not only their own demise, but also responsible for sowing schism among the sportsmen of VA. Way to go fellas... glad to have you on our team.

What was that quote that lanse made earlier?

But, to use a medical analogy, there are some people with differing agendas whose idea of treating a scratch on the arm is to cut the whole damn arm off.

To use another analogy pertinent to the situation: there are also people with medical degrees called doctors, who upon finding a scratch on the arm has become very badly infected will and do cut the whole damn arm off to keep infection from killing the body.

Just some food for thought... I'll bet the law makers are chewing that food mighty hard too if hunting as a whole is really the big issue here.

Throwing insults thats calling the kettle black. You andothers on this and other forumshave been doing just that since day one. You don't mind lumping all hunting dog owners into what you might have expierenced in your particular location of the county. You whine about it on a public forum daily instead of doing something about it. You state you know the law but haven't applied it to the law breakers in your area to give you some sort of resolution. You would rather end all hunting with dogs just so you don't have to be annoyed with them during your time out in the field. I'm tired of all the fighting and name calling on this and every forum trying to protect something I love to do ethically and legally. I have hunted legally all my life and never broken the law but you don't mind calling a spade a spade well I don't either. Your one of the biggest problems on this board because you and others would end a tradition for all hunting dog owners to prevent a few from hunting illegally. what makes you and others think that by adding more laws and regulations it's going toresolve your problems if there aren't enough enforcement officers now to enforce what we've already got. get real and wake the hell up.

Hokie I don't want new laws, I want the dog owners to follow the current ones. It seems no one wants to admit that dog owners are breaking laws... it's not my job to police the dog owners, it's their own job, it's called morals and values. Answer this, if the dog owners quit running dogs out of season wouldn't that problem go away?? Instead of saying I or we need to enforce the law, why not tell your fellow dog guys to follow the law, it's much easier to do that. And it's not just in one part of the county, it's in every county that allows dog hunting...dogs are being run every day in the off season by someone. And answer this, why shouldn't Andy or myself be concerned about our hunts being ruined when in the field?? If it's bow season, then we should not have to deal with dogs.

We are all deer hunters but I have to say: The right to retrieve and fox hunting seasons laws have to change. Thiese laws allow the dog hunter free reign over my posted property. I know what I see. I see dogs running deer out of season January through October because I see the deer ahead of the dogs. But when I question the dog owners they say they are hunting fox. I am tired of being lied to. You dog hunters know your dogs are chasiing deer out of season and then you say you are chasing fox. I love to deer hunt with bow and arrow and with my muzzleloader but during these seasone Iwant to hunt without the dogs. I will say I do enjoy hearing the dogs during general gun season. If you all would just stop chasing the deer out of the general gun season all would be great.

SwampCollie you hit it on the head. This is the dance in circles he does. Does he really think anyone is buying it? He ran some dog at large laws by on this on another forum. WTF does he think I've not called AC? I got a reply from the GW email. The one guy is out and I've got another to phone call. I'll hit that tomorrow. In the email I sent the part HM said about lazy GW. Got his back with a call me message.

From the questions you asked, I can say that CPOs are very concerned about any and all violations reported. To say that we blow off a complaint as something we cannot do anything about is ludicrous.

Hokie,

Maybe if you keep pounding away at the hardheads, it will eventually sink in with a few of the brighter ones.GET THE FRIGGIN AUTHORITIES TO ENFORCE THE LAWS IN PLACE.

Also, for some of the slower ones here, if dogs are legally going after fox, there is a good chance that they are gonna jump deer from time to time too. But, if you keep painting in broad strokes, you can get your shots in at the honest Fox hunters along with the deer hound folks. Funny how these threads start off with discussing a few real examples of bad apples among deer hound hunters, but then gradually spread to incorporate other styles of dog hunters. Good work guys.

He said they can't enforce the law as written. A fact we all know. If the dogger has permission to chase foxes on any nearby parcel of land and the chase continues onto prohibited lands he can follow and the dogs can chase. If they're in fact chasing deer not foxes all they have to say is "fox" and there is no crime. Are you than thick? What do you think this whole process is all about? The above 1,000 times over for 365 days a year. Wake up and admit to the issues here. This dissection of denial by you makes you look like an idiot. You know and I know and the rest here know without a change in the laws there is no point in calling.

Thanks' Lanse for the brilliant comment. When they chase deer that is illegal. If you have a dog and you know that dog will chase deer and you let it out then you're training out of season. Geesh... we all know the game here. You guys can keep denying it right up until the day they pull the plug.
