Hi All,I am 59 years old and have about 3 more years to work and then finally am free. I have a lovely wife and partner whom I have been with for 36 years last november. I love to hunt ,but don't have much money. I have tried public land with no luck. Have tried all types of day hunting and have never seen a deer on any of them.I don't have the money for a good lease and if they are good, nobody ever gets off of one when it is good.I live in LaPorte texas. Its just south of Houston.I could come up with $300 to 400 for a lease or I am willing to do any work on anyones lease for the chance to hunt it.I am willing to go anywhere in Texas to hunt. I hunt with a remington 7600 in 308. I don't bow hunt at all.I was on the national sportsman club, but they have folded up.I f anyone has any ideas for poor hunters, please let me know.I have been hunting since I was 10 when my grandfather took me for the 1st time. I don't drink or smoke and am a careful hunter. glad to see all your posts. sj

Hi there. I'm 37 yoa. married for 7.5 yrs. and have a 5 year old girl that is the pride of daddies world. I live in Pasadena, Tx. and work in Houston as a Police Officer. Been with HPD for 7.5 yrs. now. I like to hunt and saltwater fish and enjoy anything outdoors. I deer hunt and hog hunt on property that belongs to one of my brother in laws in Lavaca County along the Navidad River so it costs me nothing in lease fees, Yes I know I'm very lucky. I like to bowhunt though haven't been in years, just don't seem to have enough money or time for it and love to hunt with a rifle as well. I shoot a SAKO Hunter in 7mm-08 that works great on hogs and deer. Unfortunately the property has cattle on it so we can't grow anything for supplemental feeding. The property is covered in deer but mostly does and young bucks. This will be the 4th year of a management co-op with local landowners run through TPWD and we are starting to notice results. We need to take alot more does, coyotes, and hogs and I think this area could produce some really monster bucks in a few years. I also like to fish saltwater for trout, reds, and flounder. In my opinion hunting in Texas has gotten out of control and cost way to much and unfortunately most landowners don't care about wildlife, they seem to care only about bringing in as much money with as many hunters as possible. Always feel better after venting like that. Hope everyone has a safe and prductive hunting season this year.

i know what you mean,my lease that im on has some awesome bucks, there was a 9 point that had a 29 inch spread taken last year, would have made p&y if it had just 3 more inches needed some mass,we have alot of nice bucks but unfortunatly me and 2 others seem to be the only voices of reason we plant food, and put in the effort unfortunatly we have 26 others who dont so our efforts sometimes i fell are fruitless,we come up with a management plan no one follows it,seen alot of would be nice bucks shot last year, most only a year and a half old its a shame, everyone bitching about does but no one shoots em AND WE ARE ON LAMPS!!!! so go figure i think our biggest problem is we have a club that cant keep members to many flybynighters out of houston who go buy a rifle one season and bam their a deer hunter, read a magazine and they know everything, and the few of us that are sucessful dont know crap so go figure that one.so if any one knows were to get on a lease for reasonable thats interested in good quality mangement let me know,i will be looking next year this is my last where im at unless things change, i bowhunt only so every deer i kill is a trophy, but its still nice to see a big healthy buck, and to know you did something with a little effort to help good ol mother nature out. sorry guys had to vent a little..

i believe all the spots in our club are filled up for this year, but as usual there will be plenty open next year,i wish i had all the texas guys from this board on a lease,we all seem to share the same views,i will keep everone posted the cost is 550 a year its 3400 acres in lufkin, its surrounds a 2500 acre game preserve and lake so theres plenty to offer close to towns lufkin and nac. and the cost is per family not individual.if we could just weed out the goobers this lease could produce trophy book animals the animals that are there just need more mass,i.e. protien, but one or two guys have a hard time reducing the damge that 20 others can do in a season. good hunting guys
