Default Texas National Forest?

Has anyone heard the National Forest in Texas falling under the Type II regulations? I hunt the National Forest which is free, but a guy told me the state was going to put it under type II. Has anyone heard that? I don't see how the state can use National Forest as its own. I personally would not want to see this happen. Type II is a great opportunity for public hunting, but since the Nat. Forest is already public hunting why would that be done anyway?

That way they can charge you $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to hunt it.
My understanding is that there is a fee for the pleasure of hunting type 11.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Mr. Sparks:

There are no plans to bring additional National Forest properties into the
Annual Public Hunting Permit (APHP) Program for the 2004-2005 season.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department already operates portions of some of the
National Forests as Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) which are included in
the APHP Program. All of the Sam Houstion National Forest and portions of
the Caddo National Grasslands(Bois D'Arc and Ladonia Units), Sabine (Moore
Plantation WMA), Angelina (Bannister WMA), and Davy Crockett (Alabama Creek
WMA) National Forests.
Maps of these areas may be found in pages 66-71 of the 2003-2004 Public
Hunting Lands Map Booklet or can be view in PDF form from the Department web
site at: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/hunt/pub...ds/index.phtml

Sincerely,
Wildlife Information
