You're right about the size of the Key Deer. But not the location. They, (Key Deer), are trapped in the Florida Keys by the ocean. The deer around here are larger, up to and over 100lbs. The Everglades does not provide the food source required to grow larger. Even at that, they are still smaller than the ones that used to walk through our yard back in Colorado when I was growning up.
Liked the joke though.

Why did you choose Del Ray?? It aint cheap by any stretch of the imagination. And with the renovations, its only getting more expensive.
Basically what is happening is that the people from Miami/Dade County are moving north into Palm Beach County (and even further north into St. Lucie)to get away from that "metropolitan" feel... and in all honesty the cubans and haitians... more spanish n creole is spoken there then any place else in Fl (not knocking, just some people dont like it).
If you are moving there for work, then may I suggest Boynton Beach (still affordable places there....not much, but there are still some). I have a very good friend that is a cop with Del Ray and that is where he lives, as well as a couple of people from his force(probably the safest neighborhood in SFL - 2 ex Del Ray SWAT n a K-9)
If you are moving just to move..... then what are you looking for?? Jax is a nice area, as is Port Charlotte/North Port area on the gulf....

gman1969- gave you the best site
....i've said it before, hunting here is harder and the deer are smaller, but it doesnt take the hunt away, it's the same...after hunting here , you may even be more thankful for your harvests...i hunted HARD the first 3 years of turkey, the 4th year it finally paid off...what a wait.....the WMA's that i have seen , well the quota areas seem to be better taken care of, not as many yahoo's running around, but that doesnt mean that you cant get a critter on public land...like bullcreek...it is possible
wish you all the luck with your decision...i have moved from florida 2 times, i have moved back 2 times

Florida deer hunting can be tough. Alot of areas are so thick that a deer doesnt have to travel but a few feet from bedding area to feeding area.
Two things are a must. Snake boots and some kind of mosquito repellant.
(Even in the winter). Good luck.
