I haven't had any luck in the swamp yet. I was hoping to go before work this morning but the winds have shifted for my stand location so I couldn't go. If it's not better tomorrow then I guess I will hunt a different stand. Did see a nice 8pt in richloam when I was running dogs thanksgiving day. Unfortunately we had a staring contest as he was about 125 yds away and all I had was a 12ga with 00buck.

Went to the swamp today...aint see nothin but a oppossum...total deer for all of GS is sittin at 18 biggest a 140 lb. 6 point n 33 hogs...kind of a slow start...remindin me of last years tough season...hope we get some cooler weather n things turn for the better with the rut kickin in

Finally, it looks like it will atleast be reasonably cool enough for a morning hunt this Sat and plan on heading out. How are the water levels? Anyone seen any ruttin activity?

Water levels this year are somewhat higher than the past couple years lotta bayheads still holdin a good amount of water...Aint seen no ruttin sign yet...gonna give it another go this weekend

Haven't been in the swamp but I've been hunting richloam and so far I've found 8 scrapes and I don't know how many hook trees. I probably won't be in the swamp until around Christmas or New Years because it's almost a waste of time in there before then lol
