I hunt with my Uncle and my Dad and Cousin and we always say if you kill a 115-120" dressed buck out of Quantico thats pretty good I have seen some big body deer but average for mature buck is probably 110 + on Base

I hunt from 20 to 22 feet most often. Sometimes 18 feet or 24 feet I was going up to 30 feet, but it seems too high at times. My normal upper limit is now 24. My rope has marks ( magic marker) every 5 feet so that I can accurately measure the height.

My biggest body weight weighed 140 lbs dressed and I took it with bow at 2 yards and my biggest rack weighed 129 lbs and I shot it with a slug at between 90 yards and 125 yards.

I will try to post the pictures of these two bucks.

Very cool both are beautiful deer I love a big 8 pointer I typically go 20-25 feet in my tree also I tried 30 and it is to high for the thick stuff I hunt I find I have to duck to get a shot at that hight at times. Did you shoot those bucks in your "Good Spot" or did you take those deer years ago in a random area you hunted I ask becuase sometimes on Quantico we get lucky and pick a good spot and kill a big buck the first time

I have been 36 feet high on a steep hill and I was only 15 feet above the deer trail. I always have clear shooting. I look at the canopy when I choose a tree.

The 140 lbs buck was my first time on the tree. It was a point blank setup in some very thick stuff. The trail came 2 yards from the tree and there was only shooting out to 6 yards in one direction on the trail and no shot in the other direction on the same trail. This spot has been fair to poor in terms of seeing deer.

The big 8 point was shot from a very good tree. My best tree. By the way the buck would have scored 136 as a 6 pointer. The brows are broke off and only add little to the score. I am not sure if I shot this buck on the first year on the tree. I know that I saw the buck the first year that I hunted the tree.

Here is a bow kill off the same tree about 8 years later. There is much similarity in the genetics.

And many years later at about 600 yards from my best tree I missed a an almost identical 8 point at 6 yards and Steve Mercer missed the same buck the day before. The genes produce white racks with light brown at the base and big 8 pointers with G2 around 11 or 12 inches and very thick racks.
