Well we dont have Prarie dogs here iin Oregon but the equivelant is sage rats, wich are nearly the same size and a little chunkier, i set a personal best on my last trip and shot 34 of them.

in this part of kansas, the closest thing would be starlings (there are no p-dogs out here). i've shot half a dozen of them in 30 minutes.

I have never kept track of how many we have killed. Last summer three of us went through 700 rounds of ammo in two days.

A few years back in northeastern kansas near the nebraska border. In our huntin party we had 4 guys a 243 and 2 .223's and 1 22-250 after 3 days our grand total was 756 Prairie dogs and 12 coyotes. I personally shot 198 prarie dogs and 1 coyote with 52 grain speer HPBT handloads from My Rem M700 VLS in .223. But only been back there once since then and there were hardly any Prairie dogs around I shot only 12 that trip they said the population declined do to drought but I think we just shot them all the year before. LOL

Ditto!. I went out last Sat., took two rifles and I can tell ya that I fired just over 100 rds. If I had to guess, I'd say that about 80% were kill rounds, mostly because I was taking my time between shots and not shooting past about 250 yards. I went to two different dog towns, neither one is real big, yet!

Last fall after I tagged my antelope I got bored and tried some shooting with my .25-06. I shot six times and killed four at about 250yds. I think summer time shooting would be a hoot. I don't think I'd use the .25-06 though.
