I plan on getting a browning bps 10 for coyotes. What type of range can I get, and what type of ammo should i use. Also which choke? and will this be better then a moss 835 12 gauge? as far as the range?

I don't know how it compares to the moss, but depending on how well you shoot it, you should have a good deal on your hands with a browning 10. I'd go with either 3 1/2 slugs, out to 60-100, depending on you, or 00 buck-4 shot out to 60, also depending on you and your patterns with it. I use a 12 J.C. Hig. made Sears and roebuck (old school!!) with slugs out to 125 and have been satisfied, you should be able to do just as well if not better with the browning 10 ga.

No rifled barrel, i dont think they make one for a 10 gauge anyways. It will be a smooth bore. I want to know what size shot to use, and how far it will be effective for coyotes. Thanks

well first you should check your regs, some states have a size limit on shot for coyotes.with magnum 4's you should have no problem dropping coyotes at 50 yards with a 10 gauge.if its equiped with a full choke longer yardages will be obtained.with what ever shot you use pattern them at different yardages to see how they do.you should try different shot size, sometimes a smaller shot size will pattern better then the big ones.but the smaller size will not reach as far,do some testing at the range.a word of caution,at close range(20 yards and under)a 10 gauge with a 32 inch full choked barrel will darn near cut a coyote in half, drop them before they get in close.

With a 10 you lose the range past 75 yards real fast. The mossberg 12 with 3 1/2 00 buck is good to 80 yards. My uncle dropped a deer on the run at 80 yards with the moss. We shoot coyotes behind dogs and you can drop em with a 12 and 00 at 60-70 with 3 inch mags. Never tried slugs though. I would say the moss is your best chance.
