Coyote dens or Habits, where do the critters hang out
#2

Generally, coyotes will be layed up some where during day light. They will and do hunt during day light hours, but generally much more active at night. They like to lay in the sun on cold days, so often on a south facing slope. Sometimes they may lay in a derpression of some sort in tall grass, to get out of the wind, if it's windy. If there is a large dead animal of some sort that they are feeding on, they may lay not far from it. Where they hang out during the day light will vary greatly across the country. In Ks., they may lay in the middle of a CRP field, or out in the middle of a wheat stubble. I guess what I'm trying to say, is it varys greatly, depending on the weather, thier mood, and what they have for food and cover around them.

Wildirishman, you can still call 'em in to you during the day. Some of my finest hunts were in So. Idaho, on the desert during the day. In those days I used mostly a jackrabbit call and a squeaker. I just got my new howler today and I'm practicing on it. I can't wait to put it to use.
Feel free to wake those critters up during the day and get 'em into you.
Good luck.
