Default Close shot w/bow

I went squirrel hunting again a few days ago and BARELY missed one that was sticking his head up out of his hole about 30 yards out. The arrow just went over his head but maybe two inches so one thing to anyone who wants to try to hunt with a bow or even with a .22. If you see one that not sure what spot he is in for example hidden in high grass, just whistle real loud because they will pop up out of curiousity then game over for that little rat tailed rodent

I take it from reading your thread, that your hunting the Richardson ground squirrels? Is this right. Us guys out east usually hunt the Eastern Grey squirrel or the fox squirrels.

yeah its the ground kind. I am not really sure when the season for grey squrriels out here but i know we have some. I would be hestate to shoot one in a tree with an arrow because if i missed i would have to climb on the tree to get it. lol. I havent gotten my hunting lic. for this year yet but when i do i am going to try for cottontails.
