Calling coyotes and bowhunting
Can anyone give me an advice they have on calling coyotes and shooting them with archery equipment? I am hunting the wide open rocky draws of Western Oklahoma and I am wondering. I have made a good moving decoy and to top it all off and make it harder, we are trying to film this action also. Thanks in advance for any help.

RE: Calling coyotes and bowhunting
bow hunting coyotes is no easy task.the hard part about it is making your draw.its also difficult to get them in close enough for an arrow kill with out them winding you.the moving decoy is a major plus and if you conceal your selfs(you and the camera man)real good you might have a chance.make sure the decoy is up wind of you.as far as how far down wind, well with a bow i guess it can't be to far up wind.there for you run the risk of him still getting down wind of you.if you can back your self up against a large river, cliff or any kind of barrier that they can't get around(wind in your face)your odds will jump ten fold.they will run down the edge of this impassable barrier right to your decoy with out the ability of winding you.i,m not familer with the rocky out crops of oklahoma but some kind of natural blind might help also.pick your stands carfully and set them up in advance, move rocks, pile brush-sticks.make the blinds first then return later and hunt them.spend the day scouting and setting up stands.always pay close attention to details, wind direction, possible approch path the animal will take, are you skylined in any way.details will make or break you.good luck.
