Come on Rammer, "geese" over Coyotes, are you ok... LOL...
I took a kid out from church on Monday... He had been begging me for a while, so I took him and his dad...
First stand... It couldnt have been 10 seconds in had one trying to slip down wind... I barked and stoped him at about 30 yards... Bang..... MIss..... first time so I let it slide...
Second stand... we called for 15 minutes and nothing... started walking back to the truck... and seen two deer bust out of the hedge row ahead of us, and they started coming right at us... so we set back up real fast, I just had a gut feeling that a coyote spooked them... Sure enough, my gut was right, right behind the deer... where 4 coyotes... they held back about 400 yards... so I started hitting them with some pup distress on my new CH1 howler... that flat lit them up... they came to about 100- 125 yards, and I think they could see the truck... and the shot was just not safe they stood on a little sand dune that stood about 10 feet high, and I had no idea what was on the other side of the hill, so we didnt risk the shot... This was all on their deer hunting ground, so I showed some etiquet and didnt even bring my gun.... It was nice not haveing the heat on me for once... Fun none the less....
Third stand.... dry hole...but we seen about a 180" buck, but get this... his left side was gone, so I guess he was only a 90" buck....LOL... flipping huge though... biggest one that I had ever seen on the hoof...
It was good to have that many responses, with new guys on the first two stands... I guess that extra prayer on Sunday helped...

I had a fairly productive day today. Going to the first set we bumped a coyote with the pickup, then as we were walking into the set we ran across a fresh pair of tracks. As we went over a small hill we saw both coyotes. Got set up and started calling, they were on a slight rise and I think they could see the pickup parked about a 1/2 mile back behind us, so a no go on that stand. Next stand I called in a pair, I told my buddy to take the first dog, and he missed, I managed to get the second one on the run.
We made one more set, then we called it a morning and went back to my place an grabbed the shotguns for some pheasant hunting. After about an hour an half we bagged our birds, went back to my place had a big bowl of Chilli and decided to go make another stand about a mile from my house. Pulled one coyote out of my CRP and I smacked him in the forehead with a 55gr V-Max (also on the run after my buddy missed it).

Way to go Rammer. Looks like ya know how to handle a Ruger Red label??, as well as an AR!! Your Yellow Labs didn't look real excited about sitting around for a picture taking session!!
I hope some of that winter weather comes back down here. 4 days of hunting to do, and hardly a flack of the white stuff to be found. I gotta get some filming done, so might not be much trigger time for me this weekend!![:@]

Rammer, nice.....
Glad to see someone is getting out... I think I might be able to make it out tommarow, as long as the wind is calm...

Howler, I can handle that Ruger Red Label 20 and the AR with the best of 'em
My dogs weren't excited to be done hunting, and sitting on the freezing sub zero ice/snow wasn't too appealing to them as well! LOL This morning when we got up it was -17 and the winds were calm, by 10am and our last set it was -2 and blowing about 20mph. During the pheasant hunt pic the wind was blowing a good 20-25mph as well...I almost came to the conclusion that the 55gr VMaxs I have laoded up do more damage to the 'yotes than my 243 shooting 60gr Sierra HPs, as they never exit....
Howler, since you can't be shooting an your filming, I'll come do your shooting for ya!

i had a friend of mine help me set some traps today and decided to take him on a quick coyote hunt. he has never been. it was kind of a last minute ordeal thats why the camo i was wearing wasonly avest. made a few sets nothing. getting close to the 20 min mark on one caught this little guyhanging out a distance not really wanting to come in. i was playing the coyote and rabbit on the foxpro so maybe he got a little curious. 267 yards with the .204 done deal no kicks or anything. the wind was blowing about 20-25mph left to right so i held a little into the wind. the shot hit himhalf way down hisneck so i compensated alittle much[8D]39gr. blitzking no entrance hole and a half dollar size exit hole.had some mange on the back half.

Got off early yesterday and headed to some BLM that I hadn't hunted in a while. Called one in on the first set and as I was waiting for it to top a small hill when it bolted out of the area. Two seconds later I hear a 4 Wheeler coming down the road. Guy apologized for scaring off the yote.
Drank too much last night and didn't get out as early as I wanted too, but still managed to do a little calling. Only had one show up.
