I prefer Winchester.
I don't shoot the 223,I shoot a 243,with Winchester 80 grain PSP.they do a great job for me on everything I shoot.<img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest

remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry.

You need to try a variety of brands to see what your rifle prefers accuracy wise.

If I ain't huntin',I'm trappin',If I ain't trappin',I'm fishin'
If I ain't fishin',I'm wishin'!

TrapperDave is right. I recently did this with my 223. I tried 3 types of ammo; winchester 55gr(plain white box), winchester ballistic tips 50gr, and black hills 55gr psp. the ballistic tips produced 1/2 inch groups at 100y, black hills about 3/4 inch groups, and winchester( white box ) 2 inch groups. That doesn't mean that your 223 will like the same loads. My dad and I both have rem 700, 7mm rem mag, his prefers 175gr corelokt, mine 150gr ballistic tips. I plan to try several more brands/weights etc to achieve optimum performance. Any leftover rounds are still good for plinking and ground hogs in the summer. Keep trying until you find what your gun likes.

I really like Winchester Supreme Balistic Silvertips, in everything I've shot them out of, they do very well for factory ammo. You'll pay a pretty good price for them, bout 5-10 bucks more per box than even Winchester Super-X ammo, but it's a bit cheaper than hornady's and maybe a buck cheaper than Federal Premiums, which don't group for crap in my opinion, especially for that kinda money, cheap Rem. Corelocts group better than those Fed.s!!

Screw the 10 ring, keep them in the zero!!!
