Whats more powerful a .22 long rim fire or a .17 hmr?

The 17 hmr, by a long shot.

17 gr. bullet at about 2550fps = 245 fpe
20 gr. bullet at about 2350fps = 250 fpe

and the .22 lr only does this

31 gr. bullet at about 1430fps = 141 fpe
38 gr. bullet at about 1260fps = 134 fpe
40 gr. bullet at about 1080fps = 104 fpe

I love my "Hummer", if game doesn't drop it's becaused you missed. Walmart has the Marlin 917V with a bull barrel and wood stock for about $200. I get 1/2" groups at 100 yards off a bench. Make sure that you put a quality scope on it. I put a Mueller APV 4.5-14x40AO on mine, great scope for about $125.
