i think he have a small point about shooting up in air with the .223 but i think it would be ok ant like she i shooting 100 rounds up there

when i was a kid i worked at a indiana state skeet shoot and they had people b*tching there were pellets fallng down and dinting there cars like 20 yards away

as for there being nothing left if there is nothing left from a small one bullet .223 hows there anything left from a 12ga 20 ga or even a.410

dont shoot a .223 up into the air at a squirrel![:'(]

miss and that bullet is coming down a mile away and could kill someone. get a 20 gauge shotgun or a rimfire .22 rifle or pistol. much better suited for squirrel, plus a .223 would leave nothing left of a squirrel.

both mine were bushmaster i loved them one i bought from a gun smith and it had been a indanopolis sweat team gun
it will be fine for shooting in the air the chance of it hurting soemoen or something is beyond rare

You can't be serious. Shotguns are used for bird hunting all the time and there's plenty "left" to eat, as long as the shooter is at a reasonable distance or 25 yrds to 40 yards. It's not like someone is sticking the dang barrel against the squirrel and pulling the trigger, for crying out loud!
You obviously haven't seen what some of the rapid expanding varmit bullets do on small critters out of the .223, Simply devastating!

If ya need a reason to buy an AR, find a better one than to shoot squirrels out of trees with. The shotgun is a much more intelligent tool for the job!

where i hunt it is illigal for tree rats to be hunted with a centerfire, rimfire or shotgun only.

Bingo. First post, asking a ridiculous question about grossly unsafe tactics. That's a Troll if I ever saw one...

I hope you're joking. Sorry, but shooting a rifle into the air, with NO knowledge whatsoever as to where that bullet will end up, is idiotic. Frankly, I don't even like the idea of using a .22 for tree-rats. If you miss, that bullet can end up a mile downrange and I suspect several miles with a .223. Just plain STUPID. Ranks right up there with drinking a few beers at lunch and then going out for an afternoon hunt.

My husband thinks I need a new gun for squirrel hunting. His friend from the military says an AR-15 .223 would be great for me.
That's not squirrel hunting...............Thar's plain KILLING!
