RE: 22 LR and Coyotes
Yes, shot selection is very important when using weapons that aren't equipped for the task at hand. The .223 is a little weak for my liking- but the .22 is just laughable. I've killed a couple dozen coyotes with the 22lr, a couple hundred with weapons ranging from .204 to 30-06. I've wounded them with a 30-06 and dropped them with the .22lr.
Picking and chosing through our personal experiences doesn't change the bottom line.... the .22lr is not a coyote gun. I know of not one single repected predator caller that will "stand up" for the .22 for it's use in the predator calling world. Lots of kids, lots of internet wannabe's, lots of "two kill veterans", but not one credible source has ever said a .22lr is a good choice for coyote hunting.

RE: 22 LR and Coyotes
I agree with ya !! But to say it wont kill them is wrong.I have killed 30 to 50 a year, most of them are called to me.I use a .22wmr most of the time. But I have used a .22lr many times ,I cant think of any that got away. All of that being said I will always grab my .220 swift when going on a walking -call- hunt.We all have our own expiences, and I have had good luck with it.I always try to shoot them no further then 50 yards.
