just like turkeys and such they have a comfort zone, they wont go where they dont feel comfortable. you said that you have seen them at the back yard ? well if you scared one off there might have been a couple out of sight that remember getting spooked there. timeing is important when the time is right they will come in. competition is a big thing... try simulating a dog fight. work on their ego, not their hunger.

I hear ya there. These woods behind my house are small....maybe 300yds wide by 500yds long. I wont mess with them for a few weeks...let them settle down a bit. I finished my homemade caller today and it sounds execellent so I cant wait to try a new area with it and see what happens. From what I understand from people is this is a hard time of year to call them in. Is that the general concenus in here too? Remember I am in the North east and dont have the pleasures of the open praires and such like out west.

Are you callin the same place each time? you can't do that. You will make the coyotes call shy and they will know your game.

If you have to call the same area, call it from a different direction and try different calls and volumes. Just switch it up as much as you can. You gotta let a spot cool between stands also. like atleast 2 weeks.

I am over here in NH so I feel your pain.

p.s. the pups are ready to drop if they haven't yet, they could be staying close to the dens and not responding as readily!!

Well the new system seems to be a good aidea. Went out last night and atleast got a response 3/4 of the way threw the 16min sequence. The thing that sucks is it was just matter of mins before it got dark and he/she didnt show. From the howl tho it was within 100-1500 yds from us.
