Only you know what kind of marksman you really are. If you are capable, a .22lr between the eyes or behind the ears is lethal yote medicine. This I know. I've never used 00buck, but assuming it patterns well enough I wouldn't doubt its abilities either. Did some quick research...00buck are .33" and about 50grains each, so compare that to your .22 that moves faster and it looks like a toss up (on paper at least). I guess take just take your pick.

jrbsr, hi mate. I've already got lengthened forcing cones in my silver pigeon 3 but just dont get on with 00buck. I've recently bought a Benelli Montefeltro and I might give that a go.
Nobody really uses buckshot over here, we're not alowed to shoot deer with it and so there is not alot of use for it and so not many gunshops stock it and those that do will only carry one brand. Gamebore buffalo is the most commonly found.
I like to keep a box in case I have to destroy a cow or big pig at work.
Some people like what we call AAA shot for foxes which i think is the same as #4buck but this generally patterns poorly as well. BB is the most commonly used fox load followed by #1 and #2 which I believe is #2 and #3 in USA shot size. BBs flatten them reliably and more consistantly than any other shot size I've tried and I shoot a lot of foxes.

Dove hunting with a .22 and buckshot? Something sounds fishy!
