I have not found anything that works consistantly for me, other than going squirrel hunting
I run into more then than any other time. I have called a few with a rabbit in distress and want to try a howler sometime. For some reason I can't get them to respond very often for the number of coyotes that i know are in my area. I have shot a couple dozen, most while hunting something else, and trapped a few more but certainly am no master

Haven't hunted coyotes in IA, but I imagine it's all about the same. Good camo, good calls (Primos, Lohman, Johnny Stewart) and lots of patience. Smart dogs don't run right into a call, and they'll sneak up from the downwind. Get a good DVD and see how it's done. Primos Truth I, II, and III are really helpful.

s. clayton county here. yotes all over the place. I shot 6 in one year(2005) off a 200 acre farm I bowhunt(although there are not that many all over thank god)... see if they persist though with fur prices going up
