I want to start trapping rabbits and im curious as to what to use for bait? ill be useing live traps and everyone always says carrots and lettuce but I dont think that`ll draw the rabbits into my setup so what do people really use for rabbit bait?

This time of the year it is probely against the rules!!

I don't bait the rabbits I trap.
I place my traps in runway areas . Such as under bushes ,between bushes and the house , a hole in the fence ECT.
If you look close you should be able to see where they go.

I have never had any luck baiting the pests.

I wont be trying to do it this time of the year I dont even have any traps built yet. I use to know alot of people who were really into it and I havent talked to anyone who does it in many many years and something made me think of it the other day and id like to get into it I dont think theres alot of people who do it around here anymore. I was fairly young when I knew the people who did it so I dont know how they did it I just remember them comeing back to the house with the traps and rabbits they had caught and it looked like fun.

Bunches of clover , carrot tops , pretty much whatever they normally eat if it's the tastiest thing in range of the trap . You could also put out a small food plot of short clover and snipe them .

Hello Rusty. Tony from perrypatchbeagles. I use Apples to catch rabbits for training my hounds. Actually just about any type of Fruit or vegetable with a strong odor will attract rabbits and bring them to investigate. Try cutting up small pieces to bring them in and then place larger cuts inside of the trap. I occassionally use celery too. Good luck!

My GrandMother used to have me use cut up onions.

If I remember right it worked preety good.

The onion smell goes a long way.

Bugs was always eating a carrot but I'll agree with johnch. Put a trap on the travel area's. They will ignore a baited trap if you put it in your garden but if you can find out wher they're sliding under your fence you will have rabbit soup by the end of the day.
