RE: New York Antler Restrictions State Wide?

snedd162 first let me say welcome to the big game ranks. Getting a deer is really a matter of knowing where they are, where they feed, where they bed down and when they move to these areas. Scouting...

RE: New York Antler Restrictions State Wide?

Now I am getting what you are saying about AR's, because the law says 3" if a person has a DMP they can legally take a 2-15/16" or smaller deer with it and, as so they don't have to legally know if...

RE: New York Antler Restrictions State Wide?

Steve is seems rather obvious to me but just for you,if youare required toreport a doe they (DEC) would provide doe tags to be filled!

"Also unanswered is how you can say all hunters need to...

RE: New York Antler Restrictions State Wide?

Ok I lied this will be my last post on the subject. There is no contradiction if a hunter cannot look at a deer and tell it is a mature 8 point instead of a 2.5yr. old they should not be hunting the...

RE: New York Antler Restrictions State Wide?

I guess I haven't made my point, there are a number of ways to tell if a deer is mature or not. You are equating an 8 point rack is oonly on a 2-1/2 year old deer and that is not true. The 8 point I...

RE: New York Antler Restrictions State Wide?

I don't know about the rest but I have only taken a deer with less than 8 points and the only reason I did so was because some moron with a shotgun blew the lower hind leg off a 4 point and I put it...

RE: New York Antler Restrictions State Wide?

Then you have made my point, chances increase with age of defects in all animals and the defect is genetic, thus reducing the gene pool by producing a defective animal. If this defective animal...

RE: New York Antler Restrictions State Wide?

So the fact that the chromosomes getting tangled in older animals causing them to brake apart has nothing to do with genetic defects? And so genetic defects cannot be passed on ?

RE: New York Antler Restrictions State Wide?

Steve how many wild life biologists have you spoken to that told you ?

The idea of taking out older deer which also means does too. Thepromotion better genes thus strengthening the herd is not...

RE: New York Antler Restrictions State Wide?

Steve it is a genetic fact, the older an animal gets the weaker their genes become and yes this means both sexes. If older bucks are allowed to breed beyond 4.5 years it is bad for the herd.

RE: New York Antler Restrictions State Wide?

Your 4 point is a waste because you took a buck that most likely was a yr or 2 old taking out a deer in his youth when you should have been looking for one that was over the hill, if filling your...

RE: New York Antler Restrictions State Wide?

The reason for Ar's is most hunters won't let a small buck walk, regardless of it's rack size. I have seen several deer taken that had rack of 4 points or less this year, what a waste. Ar's are not...
